What to Expect at a Beginner Embroidery Workshop

What to Expect at a Beginner Embroidery Workshop

Hi Stitchers-

You may be wondering what happens when one signs up for a Beginner Embroidery Workshop/Class.  I can't speak for others but I can share what happens at my workshops.

What to Bring:

NOTHING! I provide all the materials you need. Dress comfortably, as you are there to focus on the craft.

During the Class:

  • We'll go over the very basics - what each tool is for, how to use the hoop, how to split the threads, how to read a stitch key, etc.
  • We'll go over the pattern
  • I'll explain each stitch as we go and show you how to do it (we'll keep working on it until you get the hang of it)

Most people come close to finishing the pattern and will need to take it home for a few more stitches.  Others complete it in the time we have scheduled.  Either way, we'll talk about what to do after you finish (hint: getting rid of the pattern lines and how you can potentially finish it off).

Have you attended a beginner class?  What was your favorite thing about it?  What do you wish they would have done differently?

See you soon-

Ally
